We are Desperate for Flexible Seating!

My students need flexible seating options including 2 beanbag lounge chairs, 4 wobble chairs and 3 balance balls.

My Students

Do you remember being told to sit still and sit up straight at your desk in school? I do and I remember having a really hard time with this directive. I teach a class full of students who have many different preferences for how they work most successfully.

Some of my students prefer to stand while doing their work, while other prefer laying down on the carpet with a clipboard.

Each individual learner in my classroom has their preferences and I would like to give them the opportunity to learn in the way that they can learn best!

My Project

If you donate to this project, you will be giving my students this year, and for years to come, the opportunity to exercise their right to learn in the way that they can be the most successful. By providing them with various options such as the balance balls, wobble stools and beanbag loungers, they will feel more comfortable to focus their energy on learning. This will also help my sensory seeking students to feel less fidgety if they know they can work however they choose.

Please think back to the time when students were expected to sit up straight, ankles crossed and hands folded.

Please think back to how it felt to not have a choice about how you learned, even if sitting this way wasn't your preference. In reflecting on your own experiences, please consider changing the experiences of the students in our classroom. Please help us gain a more flexible educational experience with flexible seating in our classroom!
