Help me give my students play materials to learn the ability to respect and learn about each other's differences in order to understand that we are all unique and special in our own way.
My pre-kindergarten students are very kind, eager, enthusiastic, and have an enormous joy for learning. Every day they come to school with huge smiles on their faces, big hugs to share, complex questions about the world, and informal conversations about their experiences with myself and their classmates. They are focused on making the world a kinder place by having great manners, sharing with their friends, comforting friends who need help, and respecting one another. They love to play with one another and are often heard giving accolades to their friends thus creating a family-like environment in our classroom.
My Project
The students will be exposed to people with different abilities and different cultures by listening to stories. They will also learn about this topic through play. Students will be engaged in respecting other cultures and abilities through the dramatic play area where they will be exposed to different clothing and foods. They will also be able to create different communities in the block area using blocks. By exposing children to various people at a young age, children will understand that we are all alike, we are all different, and it's all all right as long as we respect one another.
