Help me give my students a memorable childhood school experience. Creating a memorable school experience doesn’t require big budgets or all the materials imaginable, it’s about sparking joy, building connections, and making students feel seen and valued.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My class is full of potential! It’s our future! I love that my students are eager to learn, curious, and all around come to school ready to ask questions and have fun. A classroom carpet is more than just a rug, it’s a gathering place, a learning space, and a foundation for connection. It gives us a place to sit together, build relationships, share stories, and learn side by side.
I plan to use the film and photo printer sheets to bring our learning environment to life.
A visual daily schedule with photos of our actual routine helps all students and even myself remain consistent and confident. Adding photos of families around the room offers comfort on hard days, reminding them they are loved and supported, even when apart. My goal is for students to feel a deep sense of belonging, and I want their families to feel that too. Because when students and families feel seen, valued, and connected, true learning can flourish.
My students are eager to start reading. Their absolute favorite books are Pete the Cat! The catchy songs and fun stories captivate their attention, and the joy they find in these books is contagious. Having Pete the Cat books in our classroom does more than just entertain; it encourages my students to take risks. Whether they’re singing along, retelling the story from memory, or pointing to familiar words, they’re building confidence and engaging with reading in a meaningful way. These moments lay the foundation for strong literacy skills and a lifelong love of books.
Velcro is an incredibly helpful tool in our classroom. It allows students to actively engage and manipulate their environment in meaningful ways like moving name tags, adjusting our daily schedule, participating, and center rotations. These small tools support independence, decision making, and hands-on learning.
