My Students
My students are energetic, full of life, and eager to touch and interact with books again! They have been begging to come to see me in the Media Center and have been peering through the windows as we have been renovating our library with literary murals and exciting cubbies for them to sit with a good book.
My Project
We want our students to fall in love with reading, not the kind where you read and take a state test, but the kind where you sit in a comfy chair and have time to just read. We want them to love hearing read alouds and get to experience these as part of their childhood. Our school will be implementing the Accelerated Reader program and while we have a handful of computers to use in order to take a comprehension quiz after reading or being read to, we need just a few more handheld devices. Would you consider helping us facilitate the passion for reading and read alouds built into the program?
