My Students

Everyone has a story.
My students may only be 9, 10 and 11, but they already have a lifetime worth of stories to tell. It is my job to provide them with the tools to help them refine their storytelling.
I am one of the lucky people who enjoy going to work every day, so I am happy to be part of the 99%. My students are free spirits and are sponges waiting to soak everything up. They attend school in a densely populated part of the city.
My Project
"Don't let what you can't do, stop you from doing what you can." Sometimes our students are dealt with a hand that they have no control over, yet it's their reality.
We have one extraordinary family that is in a very precarious situation and needs a LOT of support.
What I have seen over and over again is that when a family is down on their luck for any given period of time they tend to let their house and basic needs go. How do we expect a child to focus and concentrate on learning when internally they are living in turmoil? It takes someone coming in to show they care sometimes to help get a family out of a rut. This goes back to the saying "it takes a village" and that is as true today as it ever has been.
With your support, I will be able to provide this family with a little reprieve and a little relieve so that they may feel a little lighter. We all deserve the simple bare necessities of life (school uniforms, socks, deodorant, toothbrush, soap, face wash, wipes, and granola bars).
