This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a teacher, my dream is for our children to get along. I believe kindergarten is the grade where students are expected to practice what they learn about getting along. Educating our students to appreciate diversity will make a better future for all of us.

I teach at a wonderful, multi-cultural public school located in the San Fernando Valley.

We are a high poverty school, and many of my students come from economically disadvantaged homes. My class includes students that are both English and non-English speakers, as well as students with disabilities.

My Project

With the literature books on getting along, I would like to promote good behaviors with positive words that we need to use in being a good friend. Using posters to create real live situations, we will use words to express our feelings and thoughts. By role playing, students will learn how to make positive choices. Art is another way to share the importance of our diversity. Creating individual doll shape collages, students will present their cultural and family background as an art project. This assignment will build up self esteem and celebrate the different make up of our family.

This donation will have a huge impact for future citizens of this country.

Our children will be given an educational tool to appreciate diversity, respect others, and learn to get along. We hope to make our world a better place to live by teaching our students positive ways to get along.
