This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
An iPad is a wonderful tool for learning the world around us. Students can travel to other countries and experience their culture without even knowing that they are learning about the diversity!
I teach at a wonderful, multicultural, public school located in the San Fernando Valley.
We are a high poverty school, and many of my students come from economically disadvantaged homes. My class includes students that are both English and non-English speakers, as well as students with disabilities. My students come from many ethnic background which makes multicultural awareness so important.
My Project
With a new iPad, I would like to reinforce the concepts that teach children about the world beyond. E-books will help build self esteem while allowing young learners to explore the concept of multicultural awareness. Fun apps will provide games that let children go on a journey to see butterflies of Mexico, ride a kangaroo in Australia and find hidden objects in China. Apps such as " Whole Wide World", and "Time for Kids" teach cultural diversity. There are many e-books that can be downloaded for character development. An iPad will add more resources to our classroom learning in many areas.
When you fund this project, my present kindergarten students as well as future kindergarten students will benefit from the iPad in the classroom.
It will be a wonderful teaching tool. I hope you will make this investment for our children.
