This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach a 5th-grade class in a predominantly Hispanic school district that serves a high population of low-income students.
The beginning of the year will be a great challenge for both my students and me.
We are coming back to the classroom after a virtual learning year. I know that my incoming 5th grade students will be facing many challenges and will need a lot of academic support. I want to be able to help them and also challenge them by making sure I am ready every day to give them a great learning experience.
My Project
These materials will help my students learn more about diversity and cultures.
They will learn that we are all different and that we all make contributions in society in our own way.
I want my students to be able to understand each other through empathy and respect. Through the use of these materials we will discuss in class how to understand others and why being different is a great thing.
This project will also help them in the social emotional learning and will understand how to accept others and each other's differences.
