My Project

If we want kids to be good readers, we must help them fall in love with reading. One of the easiest ways is to read aloud great books.

"Ways to Make Sunshine" from Newbery Honor and Coretta Scott King Author Award winner Renée Watson, is the first book in a young middle grade series about Ryan Hart, a girl who is pure spirit, kindness, and sunshine.

A favorite part of the day in our 3rd classroom is read aloud time. This is the time when my class gathers together, all with a book in hand, and students listen to a story being read to them. Reading aloud to students allows them to listen to a fluent reader, thus building their listening vocabulary. We work through a variety of comprehension activities after each chapter or section of our read aloud book.
