This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students were displaced twice. First when they left their home countries and second when the pandemic hit. The parents of my students work so hard to provide safe homes, clean clothes, cell phones, and so on. A lot of work on language acquisition was lost as my students stayed close to their loved ones. Now, we have a lot of work in these secondary classrooms launching these kids to be ready!
Posterboards and Butcher Paper: This gift of posterboards and butcher paper will help the kids build anchor charts and organizational paths to take ownership of their own learning.
Folders: We got a class set of books but just one, the folders and notebooks will give the kids a place to house their learning.
Pencil Sharpener: As much as I personally love my screwed-on-wall manual pencil sharpeners many of my kids of all races and backgrounds, have no idea how to work the thing.
Headphones: My students, who are second language learners, have a curriculum where they get to listen to English and respond. Sadly, we currently have two headphones. I want to be able to provide headphones for each of my students.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
