This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Situated in South Central, Los Angeles, the students in my campus represent diversity and resilience. Despite the adversity and challenges many of them have encountered, their motivation and optimism in life is a true reminder of what we should aspire to inspire as educators.

My purpose as an art teacher is to help my students find their inner liberation through their creative process.

With my background in psychology and social emotional development, it is a dream come true to introduce concepts of self love and self acceptance through the visual arts.

My Project

Bringing the joy and creativity of watercolors is an enriching experience to all elementary school students.

Since most of our students come from low-income housing this is a wonderful artistic experience that will be a colorful memory in their minds and hearts.

There is a total of 320 students in our school, but I was hoping to fund 160 sets in order to give them to the older kids (grades 3-5). I plan on providing them with watercolor paper and hope to help them hone their painting techniques with this wonderful and affordable medium!
