My Students

My students are active five and six year old children from Central Florida. Many have not had the opportunity to experience many outdoor activities in their lives.

They love to learn new things and to try doing things they have never had the opportunity to do.

We are a Title I school. We have about 95 percent of our students that are on the free or reduced lunch program. Many come from economically disadvantaged families with one parent homes or raised by other family members.

My Project

Once a month our entire school is dedicating an afternoon to having FUN while we are learning! My kiddos have chosen to be part of our Water Club. I want to create engaging experiments so these students can learn measurement, capacity, the scientific method and countless math skills while having the time of their lives and enjoying themselves at school!

Lately school has become a place that is bogged down by standards and test scores.

My goal is to change the focus back to having FUN and learning at the same time. I want to give the little ones in this club the opportunity to play in the water and sand tables while creating memories at the same time.

I plan to use the tables and tools to let the children explore their environment and learn by DOING! Help me put these tools in their hands and give them the chance to bring a little fun back into the learning!
