This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are young whose first language is not English. While they are learning English, I teach science in Spanish. Many of them come with large academic gaps and need to have access to technology. Most are highly intelligent and talented, but do not have the economic resources to access technology. They come to this country with a great desire to learn. Those who have a good academic background, contribute greatly to the class with their active participation and at the same time excite others in wanting to learn as well.

My Project

It is very difficult to teach science, when you do not have a laboratory room, much less with technology. Most of my students do not speak English, and many times they feel discouraged to give their best. However, once you have the facility to use technology, they may feel more committed to continue attending classes with the encouragement that they will have the technology that will help them acquire English, at the same time learn science and be able to develop all the scientific skills necessary to succeed academically.

Therefore our students will have the opportunity to use this equipment to facilitate the search for information, due to their scarce economic resources.

We will also be promoting group work and critical and analytical thinking in this project.

Students will be use this equipment to access virtual lab activities where they can help them have an authentic educational experience.

For example, they can keep a record of observations and data in these 20 tablets, which can be easily transferred among themselves. Students that are working in a group can share information through email, google classroom and other applications. It will be a useful tools for them goals.

I'm also requesting a document camera that could help me to give the best lesson. It also allows me to handle information in less time, so that more material can be learned in class.
