This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Drinking water is a basic human need. It is even more important when those humans are children whose minds and bodies are constantly changing and growing. Currently, our school community consists of 70+ dedicated teachers, and 450+ high school students. We are a small community Title I public school, and our water fountains that once dispensed unfiltered tap water are non-functional. To service the hydration needs of our community, we only have ONE 5-gallon water jug in the cafeteria for the entire school. Students often resort to buying sugary sodas or unhealthy drinks from the local deli. Besides the insurmountable amount of trash that piles up, which will ultimately create a burden on our planet, our students are often found missing valuable instruction time as they constantly ask to leave the classroom to search for something to hydrate themselves with. Please help support this teacher's quest to provide clean, safe, and healthy drinking water to our growing young minds. Whatever you can support us with will help us a long way in ensuring the physical and mental health for our future.
