Watching, Seeing, and Hearing Our Way to Understanding Algebra
Help me give my students headphones to use while watching instructional videos on the classroom computer and white board supplies for small group instruction and frequent practice.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The students in my school are very diverse. I have students who have grown up all over the country, and I have other students who have never left our state. Students speak multiple languages at home, and some students are still learning English.
One thing all of my students have in common is that their high school diploma will open doors to the future—doors that may not have been available to their parents and grandparents.
One of the biggest hurdles for students is the fact that Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, and a fourth year of math, are requirements for graduation.
Our students are kind citizens. Instead of a senior prank, our senior class participates in 'Prank it Forward,' where they pay it forward and raise money for a community member in need. Whether it's a fellow classmate battling cancer, an elementary school student with an undiagnosed medical ailment, or a family who has experienced a tragedy, our students believe in kindness and inclusion. These are the role models that my freshmen look up to, and as they get their turn as seniors, those are the shoes they have to fill.
My Project
In our Algebra classroom, we use a variety of strategies to reach all learners. We have recently added some laptops to our classroom, so we will be able to have students use online instruction/practice as one of the ways they will practice and learn within the classroom. Because it is rare that all students will be working on the same task/assignment on the computer simultaneously, it is essential that students have headphones for text-to-speech and video instruction as to not disturb other learners.
We often get our students up out of their seats to practice - on a white board, in collaborative groups, or on the Promethean board.
Having white board markers as well as a magnetic graphing set will allow our students to be more engaged in our graphing units. Students can place the graph on their desk to solve and then we can put it on the board to discuss, critique, and use as an exemplar.
More than a third of students from low‑income households
