My Students
I am a teacher in a high poverty school district. Many of my students are being raised by single parents or struggling families. The students I teach are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Not only are my students faced with poverty, but they also have special needs. I am looking to provide them with creative, yet meaningful experiences.
My students are energetic, creative, and spontaneous.
They deserve to receive love and lots of positive attention. From the minute they walk in the door of my classroom, I focus on their abilities and potential. I want them to experience life and have some of the opportunities they may not be afforded in their everyday lives. I want to do this in a creative and positive way. My focus is to inspire learners of all abilities to believe they can achieve what they dream.
My Project
Providing our youngest learners with experiences in math, science, engineering and technology (STEM), will help set the stage so students can continue to develop their own love of these fields as they grow.
Studying living things in our preschool classroom and using the kid-friendly resources from the IF/THEN Collective, students will become thoughtful, inquisitive scientists at a young age.
These experiences will help lead students to explore the world around them and to better understand the interdependent relationships between all that they observe. They will be able to observe the life cycles of two very different insects.
More than half of students from low‑income households
