My Project

The supplies asked for in this grant would be used for many different age groups and classes. It is really important for me to get my kids outdoors and experience new things.

The "Watch us Grow" grant would cover classes such as elective credit recovery so kids could graduate on time.

It would be used for students that are peer tutoring K-2nd grade students. They would teach these young students about plants, how to take care of them, and basic science. My middle school science class would use this to learn about plant science. They would also be getting to explore different ways to grow plants such as traditional gardening and aquaponics gardening. My Independent living class would be using this to learn how to grow their own organic fruits and veggies and the importance of organic homegrown fruits and veggies versus buying it from the store. My PE class would be utilizing this by manual labor of lifting, building, and maintaining a garden. Both PE and Independent Living would also learn about nutrition from the organic fruits and veggies versus the store-bought fruits and veggies.

Over the summer the garden would continue to stay maintained by a community service group (Key Club and a local 4H club) which would donate the fresh fruits and veggies to our local food bank for people in need. So nothing would go to waste and the project would continue to be used as a hands-on learning experience for kids!
