This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are from a high poverty area. They long to have experiences they usually don't have. My students come from a variety of different homes and backgrounds. They love studying about insects. This is why it is important for us to teach in a variety of different ways and to help those who don't have a chance to experience the life cycle of insects. The students need to be able to understand the life cycles of ants and how to care for them.

Learning about the ants is an exciting way for students to understand about how insects play a part in our daily life and why they are important.

This activity will be very enjoyable for the students, as well as teach them not only about how a ants develop but how to care for them as well.

My Project

This is a unit we like to do every year. The students will learn about how ants are important to the environment and why we can learn a lot from them.

We will study how ants build their homes and work together.

The students will learn about how ants contribute to the environment and why they are essential. The students will journal what they have learned through observation, reading and data we will graph on how much they tunnel everyday. Lastly, they will draw their own ant habitat using the scratch sheets.
