Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
At our school this year we started a PE loaner clothes system to help our students be better prepared for class. With this system we have clothes that the students are able to borrow for the class period so that their school clothes to not get dirty from PE.
This request that we are making for a washing machine will help keep that program on track.
We have seen an improvement in our program from 80% last school year not dressing out for PE and not being actively engaged in the lesson to only 3% not dressing out this year. Our loaner program has provided a culture shift at the school and has lessoned class behavior issues and has allowed all students from every circumstance to participate in class.
The goal for this project is to continue the improvements that we have made and reach a goal of 100% of students dressing out and being engaged in their physical fitness.
Our students here at Rancho come from varying backgrounds, but they strive to do their best. Many of them beating the odds that have been dealt to them, showing up everyday to a place where they feel safe and wanting to learn and participate.
