My Students
I teach eighth-grade science in a small, rural Tennessee town. We are in a high-poverty area, and many of my students do not always have the same opportunities as students in urban areas.
Creating the ideal classroom environment is critical to academic success.
My students are inquisitive, eager to learn, and love new challenges! Our new curriculum is project-based and enables all students to work independently through the required work. Progress is monitored through checkpoints, and students can easily see how they are progressing through their 8th-grade work.
As a teacher, it is my responsibility to expand my students' horizons. Providing them with activities that stretch their brains and provide them with a challenge will motivate and engage my students.
My Project
I am requesting two Evidence of the Big Bang kits to learn about the Big Bang. The Big Bang Theory is an interesting study for my students. As a theory, it is important to provide evidence and visuals for my students. In this series of five investigations, my students collect pieces of evidence that each provide part of the theory.
My students will use these kits to explore the spectra of different elements and light sources, analyze star spectrographs, investigate the Doppler effect for sound and light, model the expansion of the universe, and digitally observe the remnants of the Big Bang.
Providing my students with hands on activities and visuals other than videos is important so that the concepts are more understandable to all students.
