This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from various social economic backgrounds. They range from low income families to homes where parents are trying their best to raise their children in a neighborhood that has gang related problems daily. There are students that don't have either parent and are either with a foster family or with a relative. Either way, they come to class eager to learn, which is why I wouldn't want anything more but to enhance their excitement for education through games and materials.

My Project

4th grade math is tough, so why not make it fun and engaging without the tears. The Daily Math Fluency Kit is the perfect math warm up that my students need. I will use this kit daily in my classroom to begin my math lesson.

The kit is a quick 10 minute warm up but offers the exposure that my students need.

During these 10 minutes, I can model key strategies and work on problem solving skills. Most important, my students are provided the opportunity to apply and discuss these vital math skills with their peers. This the perfect time that students can share, communicate and practice building on each others' ideas which is so important. Students are able to use math vocabulary in an engaging and non threatening environment.

This kit will enhance the math curriculum I already use. My students need this daily warm up for them to succeed. I know they will continue to use these skills taught in the kit in future years.
