"Education in the most powerful weapon which you can use to change to world." - Nelson Mandela
My students are an amazing group of learners.
They are constantly asking great questions and pushing themselves to work to the best of their abilities. I have seen them rise to all of the challenges that I put in front of them and they constantly challenge me to be a more progressive and thoughtful teacher.
My students are thinkers, dreamers, and creators. They come from all backgrounds and bring with them various life stories and experiences. Their uniqueness is what has helped us to create a trusting and loving classroom community.
My Project
Reading is essential to academic progress! I recently started monthly Book Clubs in my class. Students are put into groups based on their reading levels. They plan their reading homework out every week and then meet on Friday's for Book Club. During these meetings they discuss the week's reading and complete a project together. We even include snacks, just like a real Book Club! My students love participating in Book Club. I have enjoyed watching their love of reading grow over the past month. Having these new books will help to offer a wider selection of novels to my students.
The books I have selected vary in Lexile Reading levels.
This will allow me to meet the needs to several students in my class. My current book availability is limited. I want to be able to offer my students more choices, not just based on reading level, but also based on interest level as well.
