My Students

I am new to teaching AP World, Academic Decathlon, Academic Pentathlon (8th grade team) and a veteran 7th and 10th grade World History teacher. Many students are struggling emotionally and socially with coming back to school and learning the new normal. Most of our students qualify to receive free or reduced-price lunch. They work hard and they are eager to learn and succeed. I want to do my best to show students how much their work means to me as a teacher and as their coach.

With this in mind, I want to support my students with basic necessities such as clean air and a warm, welcoming classroom.

This includes allowing my enthusiastic students access to resources that will help them succeed in my class, pass the AP U.S. History Exam, and to do well in the Academic Pentathlon and Academic Decathlon competitions without getting sick.

My Project

My project centers around ensuring my students are comfortable to return to school and specifically my classroom. A clean room would help accomplish this. I am requesting an air purifier and space heater.

I have always wanted an air purifier to help with my stuffy classroom and a heater to ensure all students learn in a moderate temperature.

I have to keep our door closed and find it very difficult to open windows that are older than I am. So, my classroom can be very stuffy unless I keep the heat or air conditioning on and being on all day is just not possible and makes the room be in extreme temperatures only.
