it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have 24 wonderful Spanish speaking first-grade students. These students are bright, intelligent, and friendly! They love to learn and strive for the best. We have an amazing community in our classroom in which everyone loves and helps each other the best way they can while using proper social distance. Our classroom consists of 15 girls and 9 boys. We also have students with special needs, a personal aide, an ESL instructor, and educational interventionist staff which makes it somewhat overcrowded.
The fact of the day: learning a second language not only has cognitive and academic benefits, it also supports a greater sense of openness to and appreciation for other cultures.

My Project
My first graders will benefit from this portable heater/air conditioner throughout the school year. Even though our school building is not old, our heating and cooling system is not the best in my classroom. We are in need of a portable heating/cooling system to help us stay warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Throughout the Covid 19 ordeal, following CDC guidelines, and school safety procedures students are using sneeze shields on their desks which is another reason why we need this portable heating/cooling system to help them stay focused and not worry about temperature issues that may arise.
