My Students
We have a diverse group of Pre-K students who are ready and excited to learn! With your support, they can grow, learn, and spread their excitement for education into their future academic career. Pre-K is a special place for children to learn how to get along with others while building self confidence and self esteem. They learn how to socialize with others, manage disagreements, and build key communication skills needed in the future.
We are curious and active learners who love to make new discoveries by exploring our surroundings.
It's hard for a four year old to sit and listen for long periods of time. That's why we learn through play! Our classroom materials are essential to our learning process. The materials we play with allow us to role play, reenact what we have learned, illustrate, create, build, rebuild, count, and manipulate water/sand flow. Sometimes we don't understand the purpose of an object so we play around and test our theories. Sometimes we'll think some more and try out a new ways to use our materials. We make observations and discuss what we notice. Through our discussions, we draw conclusions that help us to make sense of the world.
My Project
Children are curious about everything they can explore using their senses. If you watch a newborn baby, they are learning and exploring using their five sense. The simple input we take for granted is the first teacher that an infant learns from as it begins to explore the world. We deny our children from learning about their curiosity and what intrigues them because someone believes that binding them to a desk in a classroom in order to pass a test is considered learning and is what best prepares them for the future.
Inevitably, Winter is Coming; and weather shouldn't put a stoppage to learning or being active.
When it rains or if it's cold, our children are disappointed because they are unable to go outside. They would love to have the chance to go out on a cold or snowy days to explore and play. Their enthusiasm has inspired this project so every day, whether the weather is sunny or rainy, they will have the opportunity to get out there and stay active.
The hats, gloves, and scarves will allow our kids to go out every day, regardless of weather. When the weather gets cold, it becomes a reason for our kids to stay in. The cold should not prevent our kids from staying active. Not only will they be able to play more, but they will also be able to stay warm during their commute home. Many of our students come to school under dressed. These items will make sure they are warm throughout the winter.
Your support would mean the world to our 18 curious explorers and help keep them warm. With the ability to go out and play in the cold and snow, it'll add new inquiries and interests to take back into the classroom.
