Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I work in an urban, low-income community school with over 500 students. Many of our students come from high poverty homes. Students come from many diverse backgrounds and include a large amount of English as a second language students.
We are a Title I school, and all of our students qualify for free or reduced-price lunches.
Despite the challenges they face outside of school, students come to our school excited to learn. They need tools that will help them reach their goals.
As an educator, I focus on creating a community in my classroom where students feel safe, secure, and motivated to learn.
My Project
I am requesting black and colorful ink to display vocabulary terms in different languages! As a math teacher, who has a multilingual population, I have seen how important it is to provide students with as many visuals as possible as they learn new vocabulary. This ink will allow me to create and print the visuals they need as they build their Math vocabulary.
Visual supports for learning new vocabulary are extremely important for multilingual learners as they tackle the challenges of acquiring a new language.
This ink will help me to create projects and assignments that target specific skills we are working on.
