Wanted: More Multicultural Books - Needed: More Storage!!

My students need 2 Read & Relax Book Cubes and an All-Purpose Cart to store their multicultural books and provide a cozy place to read.

My Students

Ruby Bridges and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. are just some of the civil rights figures that my students read about this year. My students love reading about history and learning about their culture. We would like many more books on civil rights and equality, but first we need a place to store them.

I teach 24 second graders at a public school in an urban city in Maryland.

These students are considered advanced learners because they are performing above grade level expectations. With advanced learners it is important to have learning materials that are academically stimulating, but also age appropriate. My students love reading and learning about the events that led up to the Civil Rights Movement. They enjoy hearing about the courageous acts of African Americans both past and present. I would like to provide more multicultural books for my students to read, but we barely have storage for the books currently in our classroom. Two Book Cubes and a storage cart are just the items to solve our problem.

My Project

The Book Cubes and the All-Purpose Cart that I am requesting for my students will be perfect additions to our classroom and classroom library. The Book Cubes will not only provide storage for our books, but it will also make for a cozy place to sit while reading. The All-Purpose Cart comes with 7 large bins that will hold many books and all of our Reading Center supplies. These items will provide plenty of storage for our current books and also allow us to add to our multicultural book collection.

By supporting this project you will be providing storage for our classroom books.

You will also be making books more readily accessible for my students which will foster good reading habits.
