Help me give my students the additional FIRST materials to expand their critical thinking skills as they build and program robots while solving real world problems.

My Students
I coach three FIRST LEGO League robotics teams each year. These three teams of ten meet at least once a week for two hours after school and on Saturdays and Sundays when possible.
Teamwork builds families and that's exactly what these thirty students have become to me and to each other.
Yes, they do compete in local, regional, and state competitions against each other, but that doesn't stop them from helping when the need arises.
When preparing for these competitions, my teams will immediately stop whatever they are doing, be it programming to building in order to keep their classmates on the right track. Their strong sense of core values and just plain kindness make me proud to serve as their coach.
My Project
With the LEGO EV3 expansion kits requested, my students will have the opportunity to move past the builds provided with their initial kits. No longer will they be building from a instruction book provided, but these additional supplies will have them using critical thinking skills to build and program more advanced robots.
These robots will utilize gearing mechanisms which will not only increase speed or torque, but will also have the robot using attachments not used in the past.
The robot races during the FIRST LEGO League Competitions provide multiple challenges each season. It's amazing how much confidence our students gain when they know they have access to any materials needed to reach their goals.
