Life us off on a truly magical carpet ride through Third Grade!
I am a Third Grade teacher in a classroom full of thriving, determined, and motivated scholars.
As stress and violence often prevail in their community, they come to school in search of a safe, nurturing learning environment. I am determined to provide this in our classroom community.
My Project
We need a community carpet, or a common meeting place. Currently, we hold our meetings at our desks. It is often difficult to feel a sense of 'community' when everyone cannot always be seen or heard. A clean, colorful carpet would solve this problem! We will feel a sense of togetherness and unity if we are able to meet in a common area to solve problems peacefully and grow together. Our carpet would serve as a common meeting place for community discussions, morning meetings, team building, sharing, and of course... endless learning opportunities, both academically and socially.
Supporting my vision of creating a peaceful safe haven inside of our classroom will make a huge difference in the lives of 30 exceptional Third Graders as well as many more in years to come.
