This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach at an amazing school where almost all of my inner city students are from low income backgrounds. They are a mixture of Hispanic and African American students. The student population is also comprised largely of English Language Learners and students with special needs. As teachers, we do everything in our power to make sure students have all of the necessary materials to be successful. Our students and parents are always grateful that we find ways to supply our students with learning tools to make their school year successful.
My Project
A Macbook Air will assist me with accessing a wider variety of professional development opportunities that will teach me to integrate technology in my classroom. My students may not be in the wealthiest town or school but that doesn't mean I can't provide equity by providing engaging, and effective lessons for my amazing students! A MacBook would allow and help me to access Apple's Education modules on the web. Apple offers many online courses that can help me create a digital environment in my class and that would benefit my future students. This advanced technology will also allow me to create a "state of the art" class website. Parents and students will be able to communicate with me and also watch videos for homework help.
By donating to our project, you will not only enhance my professional development as a teacher but you will ultimately help increase my students' overall academic achievement.
Having a MacBook will allow me to participate webinars, and have access to educational apps. My goal is to build my knowledge and use of technology as an integral part of my instruction so that I can provide a diverse learning environment that is fundamental to all my students' various learning needs and the development of 21st century skills. My students deserve a lifelong learner!
