Wanted: Headphones

My students need 25 pairs of headphones for our laptops to listen to books, do Lexia work, and play interactive math games.

My Students

My students are a vibrant group of third graders that come from a wide range of backgrounds and family situations. Our school provides a common ground for each of my students, where they are able to come to school ready to learn knowing they are walking into a safe and fun learning environment.

Many of my students have struggled in school over the years and as a result, haven't enjoyed coming to school.

We have been working together to make school a fun place where we all can grow emotionally, socially and academically.

My Project

As an experienced teacher, I have taught in multiple states and have been able to see the differences in funding. I currently teach in a very high poverty area of North Carolina, where resources are limited. We have laptops that were able to share along with 7 other classrooms but we don't have working headphones for the students to use. Many of the headphones are missing a foam piece but only have about 10 pairs in all. When the students use the laptops, they use them to play math games, do research for projects, or work on an online reading program, Lexia, that requires you to listen to the program. Due to this lack of resources, I am sending kids into the hallway to work, children are getting distracted but ultimately students aren't able to do their best learning.

By donating to this project, you will not only be donating to my classroom but you will be helping 7 other classrooms in our school since the laptops are shared.

We will also be able to take the old headphones that still work to other classrooms in our school that are needed.
