Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Reading books opens up a whole new world to students. Kindergarten students are no different, they enjoy looking at books and talking about books. However, our classroom library does not invite students to sit and read books because we have no seating available.

There are 24 students in my class.

They are about 5 years old and attend a public school in California. They are inquisitive and curious about everything. They love to ask questions and enjoy talking with each other. The students are mostly from low-income families.

My Project

I am asking for a variety of seating items and a little rug to set up an appealing classroom library. By being able to create a library area where students will be able to sit and enjoy books I can inspire them to keep learning to read. The students will be able to enjoy talking about books and sharing books with their friends in the new library setting. As it is the students do not have anywhere to sit and so the library does not get used as much as some of the other centers in the classroom. Students need a quiet and comfortable place where they can focus on reading.

The students in my class will be able to enjoy the new library this school year and for many years to come.

It will invite them to sit and learn to read as well as to develop a love of books.
