This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Reading can open up doors to endless possibilities. Reading exercises our brains, improves concentration, and teaches children about the world around them. I hope to instill in my students a love for reading through fun educational experiences.
I teach a fantastic group of second graders who are the sweetest kids and are eager to learn.
Our school is a Title I school located in a very low socioeconomic area. Most of our students live in poverty, with other family members, or with only one parent. Our campus has 98% of students who receive free lunch, and all students are given breakfast in the classroom. Even though these students live under such circumstances, they still manage to have a positive attitude and are very optimistic about school.
My Project
My students will really benefit from having hands-on reading centers that are fun and exciting. These various reading games and center activities will not only motivate my students but will also help them improve their reading comprehension and fluency skills. The soft seats will give the students a comfortable area where they can go and read quietly so they can focus on the story while reading it.
Your donations will improve my classroom tremendously.
Reading not only improves a child's vocabulary, but it also develops a child's imagination. Once my students become avid readers, they will do better in ALL subjects throughout their schooling. These reading centers and games will get my students excited about reading.
