My Students
My students are in need of a carpet for whole group reading and math lessons.
My class is a Kindergarten class in an urban area.
We have a large percentage students who are on free and reduced lunches. I teach Kindergarten EL which means some of my students come in without being able to speak English. Our school is more like a family and we care about each student as though they are.
My Project
We are in desperate need of a carpet for our whole group instruction. Right now, with no carpet, our math and reading lessons are suffering, because my students are more worried about who they are sitting next to than what is being taught. Throughout the lesson students will try and move several times. This causes a distraction when I have to pause and ask someone to stay in one spot. Having a carpet with squares would allow for me to assign spots and would help to organize us during our lesson. I have also requested a carpet with letters that will double as a fun way to practice letter recognition and sounds.
By donating to our project you will help my classroom management and help to make our instruction flow more smoothly.
Student's will have a spot all their own and will no longer have to argue over who will sit next to who and try to move during lessons to be next to their friends. We will also be able to play fun letter recognition and letter sound games on the carpet.
