My students are 10th graders in a high school located in a high needs community in New York. Many of my students will be the first in their family to graduate from high school and continue their education in college.
Our school has suffered major budget cuts this year and does not have money for supplies, books, or any other materials. My students love reading and we need new books for our classroom library but our school can't buy them.
My students read independently twice a week, choosing books from our classroom library. They absolutely love reading and need more books to choose from since many of them have exhausted our classroom's supply of books. We need these books so that they will keep reading, building essential skills that will help them as they prepare for college as well as develop a life-long love of reading.
Your donation will provide new and exciting books for our classroom library that will keep my students reading. By donating to this project, you will help teenagers develop a love of reading that will last far beyond high school and graduation.
