My students need a comfortable space to sit on the floor for lessons. Due to 28 students/desks, I can’t fit a rug and these floor cushions will allow the kids to fit comfortably while they learn.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Although many of my students come from unthinkable home life situations, they enter the classroom with great big smiles on their face. They are highly motivated and always eager to learn. My school is located in the south Bronx and has the highest shelter population of students in New York. The kids have been through traumatic situations yet, somehow they are able to put that aside and thrive in a classroom being kind and loving to one another. They inspire myself and each other with they way they are able to overcome their challenges.
My Project
Due to having to teach 28 students in one classroom, it is hard to have them all sit at their desks and see the board. Having the students gather in a small space in the classroom on the floor makes it easier for them to engage and discuss ideas with one another. We have been using the hard floor in our classroom because a rug won’t fit due to the desks, so these cushions will provide flexible seating. The students won’t be worried about how uncomfortable they are sitting on a floor anymore, instead they will be comfortable and engaging in the lesson.
