Help me give my students sneakers so they can walk or run a mile or two!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students generally come from low-income families that live around the school neighborhood located in the Southeast area of San Diego. Most of my students are African American and Latino, followed by students from the Pacific Islands or Asian backgrounds.
Our school is a unique place.
The school has a great percentage of students with special needs; therefore, our school needs to be equipped with technological devices, lab tools and materials, and other resources that will guarantee that all students have what they need to learn and succeed adequately.
My Project
A selected small group of girls will monitor their heart rate and blood pressure during a period of three months. They will record the data before and after exercising by either walking and running a mile or two - at least 3 days every week. They will need comfortable sneakers in order to perform this assignment. It is expected that exercising will improve their heart condition and regulate their blood pressure as well.
Wearing comfortable sneakers will make walking and running short distances an enjoyable activity.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
