My Students

In his famous Address, Lincoln said, "That [...] we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion." While teaching military dependents US history on a military base, I work with my students on different causes to which they can be devoted today.

Our school is the academic home to military dependents of members of the military currently stationed at an Air Force Base.

It offers middle school students a comprehensive curriculum based on Massachusetts curriculum standards. Our upper middle school students are offered a robust U.S. history and civics curriculum aimed at engaging not only with local resources like Minuteman National Park and downtown Boston, but also national resources that connect with the most profound historical and political moments in our nation’s history.

My Project

Being able to cover some costs for our students would go a tremendous way toward alleviating the fiscal pressure that many of our families face. Despite their families' service and sacrifice, not all find this experience to be as affordable as they need it to be in order to participate without financial sacrifices. If we meet our goal and the overall cost is reduced, most will be able to experience their US history lessons in some of the more vibrant and historically relevant locations. Though we have the fortune of being physically close to some already in the Boston area, this support will go a tremendous way of allowing students to literally walk where their history books take them and connect with moments of our past in ways the classroom cannot replicate.

Our school’s goal is to ensure our students are not precluded from participating in activities that are offered to any other public school students.

Their transient life as military dependents does not always allow for them to visit key cultural icons because of the financial cost and traveling limitations that they face that other kids do not. This trip hopes to overcome some of those challenges, but we can only do this with your help! We humbly seek your support in our endeavor.
