My students need 2 Plancks Constant Determination Boxes to explore the incredible relationship between energy and light. It's not very intuitive, despite it happening right before your eyes!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come from diverse, lower-class families. Every student at my school receives a free school breakfast and lunch. This makes them even more hungry for a quality education, and appreciative of teachers who care enough to go the extra mile for them and the donors, like you, who help them learn the skills and concepts they need to become successful, contributing members of society.
These are the kinds of kids who are capable of so much more than they're given credit for; if only someone would believe in them and be their champion.
Our school is located in an older urban neighborhood. Our freshman class this year is just over 900 students. This is due to our school's reputation for excellence in our IB and AVID programs, as well as our extra-curricular offerings like sports and robotics. I've worked at other schools, and these students are the reason I'm willing to work harder than ever before. Their dedication to their education is what inspires me to get up and go to work every day.
My Project
My students will use these boxes to experimentally determine Planck's constant, and the relationship between energy and the wavelength of light given off (which is always better than me standing at the front of the room, telling them about that relationship).
Let's face it: Students learn science best when they do science.
Do you remember that one concept that you just couldn't understand until you saw it? Until you did it? That moment is what I strive for every day, and, with your help, I can provide those deep experiences for my students because they deserve my best. I strive to make my students active, junior scientists every day. We can make the next generation of great scientists together!
