My Project
Many of the students in my school face daily adversity, often having to emotionally shut down just to cope with ongoing trauma and instability. These challenges impact their ability to focus, learn, and regulate their emotions—especially in the school setting. Despite this, our students are resilient, full of potential, and striving to reach their goals.
This project offers students a powerful outlet for healing and self-expression through visual art and storytelling.
They will create a personal story, collage, or digital slide that reflects their journey toward emotional regulation, highlighting their unique experiences, strengths, and the tools they need to overcome barriers. Too often, middle schoolers are not given the space to express themselves creatively—this project changes that.
With your support, we will use the bean bag chairs to create a calming and work space area while journaling and/or creating their digital or visual stories. These materials will support this project and be integrated into weekly social-emotional learning activities, helping students build coping skills, self-awareness, and a lasting sense of empowerment.
