Waldorf Charter Kindergarten Recovering from an Electrical Fire!

Help me give my students books to look at and open-ended play toys, in particular, Sarah's Silks, and Kinderfeets Rocking Boards.

My Project

My class is a mix of TK and Kindergarten students. The children's ages are from 4-6. Our school is a Waldorf Charter School. We do things differently than you might typically find and that's what makes them so proud to be Waldorf students. Everything they do they infuse with enthusiasm. Eager and ready to learn, and every day they come to school with bright smiles on their faces!

These are children who announce, "I love school!" Since these children are at a public school we don't have all the options that typically come from the privately funded Waldorf schools, so we get creative, share supplies, and instill in the children gratitude and care towards the things we do have.

In July, our classroom suffered an electrical fire and many items were lost due to fire damage. This project will help us recover some of the items we lost. Most importantly are the books! Just a few of our books were salvaged but most were not. This will help replace some of the books we lost as well as some of the toys we lost for open-ended play.

At Our Academy, our approach to education is based on the understanding that we are guiding complex individuals toward their highest potential as human beings. This includes engaging their intellect, developing their resilience, opening their hearts, and moving their bodies.

Our Academy's mission is to cultivate conscientious, engaged citizens through a scholarly and artistic study of the humanities, math, and science, grounded in Waldorf philosophy.
