My Students

My students are so fascinated by books and love to dive into a new story during reading time. I would like to have a variety of books at their level to accommodate their abilities and interests. Some students don't have the resources at home for learning, so I want to give all I can in my classroom.

I work in a Title 1 school where the students are from various economic backgrounds.

Last year I gave students books and activities to take home to ensure they were reading at home. They didn't have books, computers, educational games or educational resources at home to assist in their learning experience and some parents could not afford it. These children are precious and have a desire to learn.

My Project

My students need 60 leveled readers. With these books that I am requesting my students will have a variety of leveled readers to read and topics that interest them. They will be able to build stamina during read to self and buddy reading. Also, this will build their comprehension level and assist in applying the common core reading strands during guided reading. My students will be able to think critically and analytically with this resource during reading.

This project is so important to me and my students.

I love a good book and students do too. I see how excited they are when I pull out a new story each day. I want to promote reading in my classroom daily. I would like to have this material to aid in my students achieving their reading goal this year.
