This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Do you have a favorite book? Do you like talking about and sharing the books you read? Children do too, only they're still looking for their favorite. They love sharing the stories they read, as well as listening to the stories others have read in searching for their next book.
My fourth and fifth grade students are wonderful kids, excited about learning and becoming great readers.
These students live in a very low socio-economic area and are primarily second language students. Most of them come from homes that are lacking in reading and other educational materials. With other family responsibilities and parents with non-traditional work schedules, completing homework and reading each night for many of these children is sometimes difficult.
My Project
A variety of fun, interesting, and up-to-date books will help me provide many students with reading materials and time to complete their homework. I plan to offer the students I work with, as well as their siblings and any others that want to join in, a place to complete their homework each morning before school. A safe, quiet, and comfortable place for the students to complete their work and receive assistance will help them be successful and boost their confidence.
Good books are so important for kids learning to read and becoming great readers.
Students need to practice reading every day in order to get better and be successful. Since this is sometimes difficult for them, please help me provide the materials and I will offer the time, space, and assistance that will help them in their journey to becoming excellent readers and students. Thank you for your time and consideration to helping me with this project.
