Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
"Look! I did it! I wrote my name!" My sweet students come from diverse backgrounds and bring a large array of experiences to our room. One thing they all have in common is using their imaginations and creating a happy world within our walls.
Daily, my students overcome a variety of basic challenges - getting breakfast, making it to school, having homework completed.
Our school is a Title I urban school with the most diverse population in our district, serving over 80% free/reduced-price lunch. School becomes a safe haven for these scholars - where expectations are the same every day, and their basic needs are met. While they come to school to learn, they thrive when they are given the opportunity to utilize a variety of resources to make learning real and fun. This is what keeps them coming back and keeps them hooked into learning the rigorous academic standards.
My Project
Each morning, my students come into our classroom ready for an exciting and fun day of learning. I want to provide them with an opportunity to wake up their brains by giving them morning tubs that will provide learning opportunities while they explore with letters and sounds, math concepts, STEM projects, and fine motor activities. These materials will give me the ability to do just that!
The magnetic blocks, building blocks, dot markers, magnetic whiteboards and play food will help me finish the creation of my morning tubs.
The variety of materials will help me keep the tubs fresh throughout the year so that students are always excited about what might be in the tubs. The best part? They will be practicing skills and learning when they play with these tubs of fun! Shhh!! Don't tell them they are learning!
