Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are the most amazing, creative kids, who live in a severely depressed part of the poor city of Bridgeport, CT. One hundred percent of our school receives free breakfast and lunch every day. For many of my students, I think these are the only hot meals they receive each day.
Our neighborhood is filled with wonderful families who are doing their best to survive but fight the constant battles of poverty.
Many of my students come from homes, with single parents who are doing their best to raise kids in a tough neighborhood.
My Project
My students and I will research the Seven Wonders of the World and create a large scale world map highlighting these historical wonders. Students will learn world geography and history through the arts!
These paint pens will give my students the ability to create accurate illustrations of Machu Picchu, the Great Pyramid of Giza, Christ Redeemer, the Colosseum, the Great Wall of China and the other Wonders.
We will be able to add richness and authenticity to our mural for the school and community to enjoy and learn from! Students will have the ability to add minute elements that will make our mural more elaborate.
