My Project
It's important for kids to see themselves in the books they read. And getting schools to buy books is hard to do. So older schools (like mine) tend to rely on the so very old, old books they have gathering dust in book rooms that represent the old canon rather than reflecting the current moment.
They Both Die At The End is a contemporary novel, featuring minority main characters, and written by a Latin-American author -- my students can see themselves and their families in the characters and author as they read.
I'm asking for 50 copies so that I have a classroom set for students to read along to. It's hard to ask families to buy books for a class, especially when those families already struggle with so many other things. Can you help me keep books free for students? With this classroom set, we'll get these books to one set of kids this coming year, and then another the year after that and the year after that.
