Do you remember what is was like to be inside the classroom, just looking outside because you just were desperate to just tumble on the grass and inhale fresh crisp air?
My fifth graders are enthusiastic young learners, who love to experiment and draw theories while they learn.
They are ambitious learners but their daily activities from morning till bedtime seem quite exhausting and overwhelming. And now the time that they spend outside seems to have shortened as families try to make ends meet and as schools become more crowded with number of students enrolled. In addition, due to our limited budget, it is hard for us to fund such an expensive experiment for the students as teachers despite our willingness to go the extra mile to get trained and also research about how to teach hydroponic gardening to the students in our classroom.
My Project
These resources will be once in a lifetime experiment for the fifth graders as they investigate, design, and examine the process of how the plants grow in water. This will allow them to appreciate living organisms. This lesson will help students to develop awareness of the different types of planting system. Furthermore, the lesson will be inclusive, accessible, and empowering to the students because they will have their own plant to take care of.
This project will allow us to plant a seed in their heart as they develop passion for conducting experiments.
Please help us to plant seeds that trigger our students' interest as they often feel trapped and exhausted by the academic rigor that is placed in front of them. This will be the best gift for these young learners who simply need the materials to feel heard and appreciated while they develop their own joy for learning.
