Help me give my students VR technology so they can experience vocabulary words and Reading in a way that lets them "feel" the words and passages. My Special Education students need extra help due to limited vocabulary.
Every morning when my students enter my classroom I am truly happy to see them. Our classroom feels like a home and we all feel like a small family. They participate in open discussions and freely ask questions. Despite being in a resource class they are not afraid to read in front of each other or ask questions that may be laughed at in other classes. If they argue, they are able to work it out. I am truly proud of my students.
My Project
The materials I am requesting will be used to teach Special Education students vocabulary and Reading standards in a way they can actually feel the experience. For example if they are learning the word field they can be in a field with the VR. I can have students work in a small group of three to use the technology.
There are multiple Learning games that can be played with VR headsets and new educational games are coming out all the time.
If they want to know about planets they can be in space looking at planets. They can take virtual field trips for History. In Science they can see the human body from the inside. They will feel like they are actually there and using their full senses.
