Voracious Readers in search of Rich Literature

Help me give my students access to rich literature that will help expand their knowledge of the world around them.

FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Del Porto's classroom raised $827

This project is fully funded

My Students

My students are inquisitive and voracious readers who have an unquenchable desire to discover new adventures in their favorite books as well as new books. My second grade super readers are in need of new and diverse reading material to absorb as much information as they can! Many of my second graders rely on our classroom library to check out and read high-quality books. As English Language Learners books are vital to developing that rich academic vocabulary in and out of the classroom.

My Project

With these books my students will have access to rich language and literature that they wouldn't otherwise receive. My students are from low income households and are unable to access books or other forms of literature. I want to expand their reading choices by providing them with not only more purposeful material but also a variety of reading material such as magazines that will take them on new adventures but also teach them about the world around them. These magazines and science books will not only help the students that are English Language learners connect with the material but also help provide them with academic language that will take their learning and understanding deeper and deeper.
