My students need "life essentials" - healthy snacks like pretzels, granola bars, and goldfish to help them focus and work hard during the After-School and Saturday programs.
My brilliant mathematicians work incredibly hard every day to unlock the power of math, learning to question everything and articulately prove their thinking.
I am the proud math teacher of 43 fantastic fourth graders at a public elementary school where 100% of students receive free lunch, and 90% of students are English Language Learners.
School-wide, only 11% of our kids are performing on grade level in math.
In a struggling public school where low expectations permeate our environment, my class is determined to work relentlessly to meet our big goal: we will ALL grow 1.5 years as mathematicians and pass the Common Core Math Exams!
My Project
My incredibly hard-working mathematicians will be able to work even harder during after-school and Saturday Academy programs if I can provide healthy snacks like pretzels, granola bars, and goldfish to fuel their brilliant brains! My students are eager to learn, and having healthy snacks available for after-school and Saturday Academy programs will help them work their hardest.
Many of my students' families are unable to provide a snack from home, and their attention and effort (understandably!) waivers. These healthy snacks will fill their bellies and fuel their minds!
Not only will your donations support my students in a concrete way (by fueling their bodies and brains), but more importantly, your support demonstrates that you believe in their ability as fervently as I do!
